This past weekend, Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition held a convention in Chicago to discuss its strategy in this election year. At the same time in the same city, the National African American Leadership Summit, led by ousted NAACP Director Benjamin Chavis, held a hearing to talk about issues facing black Americans in this election year. Here to discuss these developments is Ronald Walters. Dr. Walters chairs the Political Science Department at Howard University in Washington D.C.

TAPE: CASH IN THE CHECK CAMPAIGN: Ron Daniels, Campaign for a New Tomorrow. The campaign is urging black Americans to participate in mass demonstrations at both major party conventions next month to call attention to the needs of African Americans.
