¨Our school records indicate that about 68% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches so it’s absolutely necessary to focus on the needs and learning styles of that population. Last year I started using your program in my classroom as an integrative learning method. The curriculum of sixth grade reading is predominantly focused on sequence, vocabulary and comprehension so I play a pre-recorded segment of DN! ten minutes a week in my classroom and then we discuss things like words they didn’t understand or on-going news stories. (Interestingly enough, frequently I get questions about simple words as they pertain to political jargon, i.e., ´What do they mean by right-wing?´, ´Is neo-conservative like someone from the future?´, ´How can I tell if someone is a liberal??´ ) It’s very fun for me to educate them on such issues, but I must confess that I chose DN! for use in this forum as a self-indulgence!¨
