Iraqi Authorities Cut Internet Access Amid Ongoing Anti-Government Protests

HeadlineNov 05, 2019

In Iraq, authorities have again cut off internet access amid nationwide anti-government protests that began over one month ago. Over 250 people have been killed in the government’s brutal crackdown, which included the killing of four protesters near the Iranian Consulate in the holy city of Karbala on Sunday. This is the father of one of the slain protesters.

Iraqi father: '’Our son is hero. He was carrying only the Iraqi flag, nothing else. The brazen militias attacked us and killed our son. The protesters took to the streets for defending our legitimate rights and changing the constitution. So many Iraqi young men are jobless. They have no job. This government will never serve the Iraqi people.'’
