Illinois Public Health Official Breaks Down in Tears While Reporting Coronavirus Toll

On Friday, Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike broke down at a news conference in Chicago when she talked about the pandemic death toll and called for widespread use of face coverings.

Dr. Ngozi Ezike: “Today, we are reporting 3,874 new cases, for a total of 364,033 confirmed cases since the start of this pandemic. Excuse me, please. Sorry.”

Dr. Ezike then turned away from the podium to collect herself.
