India Records Record Coronavirus Deaths as Ex-President with COVID-19 Placed on Ventilator

In India, former President Pranab Mukherjee was placed on a ventilator following surgery for a blood clot in his brain. The 84-year-old tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the surgery. On Thursday, India recorded 942 new deaths and 67,000 new cases — its highest single-day toll of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, France and Germany recorded the highest level of new coronavirus cases since May, while Spain now faces the worst coronavirus infection rate in Western Europe.
