British Lockdown to Continue Until July 19 as Delta Coronavirus Variant Drives Surge of Cases

In the United Kingdom, coronavirus infections have surged to a four-month high, even though 63% of people have received at least one dose of a vaccine — a higher rate than in the United States. British officials say the Delta coronavirus variant is spreading rapidly, especially among unvaccinated youth. This week Prime Minister Boris Johnson extended public health restrictions for another month.
