Democracy Now! Examines Conflict

"I teach Alternative Dispute Resolution courses."

“I teach Alternative Dispute Resolution courses and as part of the curriculum on the framing of conflict and of narratives about conflict. I have the students examine news stories from several sources, including DN!, in order to see who/what is framed as the source of a conflict and how that differs depending on the media source. This challenges the concept of objectivity and neutrality; as well as building some media literacy and critical thinking.”
–Leah Wing, Ed.D., Legal Studies Department, University of Massachussetts at Amherst
