    The new documentary is based on Democracy Now! co-host Juan Gonzalez’s groundbreaking book, Harvest of Empire,, which takes an unflinching look at how U.S. economic and military interests helped trigger an unprecedented wave of migration.

    The film recently won an award for the best use of archival footage at the International Documentary Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. It uses rarely seen archival material to reveal the direct connection between the long history of U.S. intervention in Latin America and today’s immigration crisis.
