Kosovo declared independence from Serbia on Monday. The move was welcomed by the United States, Turkey and some European Union countries Monday, even as it was sharply condemned by Serbia, Russia, China and Spain. While supporters have welcomed the decree as an act of liberation, critics call the move a front for advancing US-NATO aims.
