Y por último en Israel, el sociólogo Baruch Kimmerling murió luego de una larga batalla contra el cáncer. Tenía 67 años. Kimmerling fue un abierto crítico de la ocupación israelí en Cisjordania y Gaza. Fue identificado como uno de los “nuevos historiadores israelíes” que contribuyó a cuestionar las opiniones dominantes de la historia de Israel y su trato a los palestinos.
