Un nuevo estudio del Center for Public Integrity (Centro para la Integridad Pública) revela que el presidente Bush y los máximos funcionarios de su gobierno realizaron un total de 935 declaraciones públicas falsas acerca de la presunta amenaza que Irak representaba para la seguridad nacional durante los dos años posteriores a los ataques del 11-S. El presidente Bush realizó el mayor número de declaraciones falsas: 260. Colin Powell, su Secretario de Estado en aquel momento, realizó 254 declaraciones falsas.
