Mientras que la Unión Europea ya ha interrumpido el envío de ayuda al régimen de facto de Honduras, Estados Unidos continúa con su envío de partidas económicas y, a pesar de que aseguró haber cortado las relaciones militares, el National Catholic Reporter revela que oficiales del ejército hondureño siguen recibiendo entrenamiento en la tristemente célebre Escuela de las Américas en Fort Benning, Georgia.
