In 2011, authorities found Bulger in Santa Monica, California, where he had more than $800,000 in cash stashed in the walls of his apartment. Whitey Bulger was the brother of Billy Bulger, a powerful Massachusetts Democrat who was the longest-serving president of the state Senate.
