Over Half a Billion People Faced Extreme Poverty Due to Healthcare Costs During Pandemic

The World Bank and the World Health Organization said more than half a billion people around the world were pushed into extreme poverty last year due to healthcare costs. The pandemic disrupted health services and triggered the worst economic crisis since the 1930s. The WHO called on all governments to work toward a universal healthcare system.
