The Trump administration is accusing Cook of mortgage fraud, an allegation she denies. Cook sued to keep her job, and the Supreme Court issued a brief order last year allowing her to stay on the board. It comes as Chairman Powell confirmed earlier this month that the Trump administration had sent subpoenas to the Fed and threatened him with a criminal indictment in an attempt to pressure him to lower interest rates.
