Iran’s Parliament Speaker Says Strait of Hormuz “Won’t Return to Its Pre-War Status”

HeadlineMar 18, 2026

Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, issued a stark warning about the Strait of Hormuz, saying in a post on X that the strait “won’t return to its pre-war status.” This comes as President Trump blasted NATO members, as they informed the U.S. that they will not get involved in Trump’s coalition to reopen to strait. In a post on X, President Trump wrote, “I am not surprised by their action, however, because I always considered NATO, where we spend Hundreds of Billions of Dollars per year protecting these same Countries, to be a one way street — We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need.” This is French President Emmanuel Macron.

President Emmanuel Macron: “We are not party to the conflict, and therefore France will never take part in operations to open or liberate the Strait of Hormuz in the current context.”
