Authorities in Ceuta Looking to Transfer Unaccompanied Minors to Mainland Spain

HeadlineAug 06, 2026

In the North African Spanish enclave of Ceuta, local authorities are looking to transfer hundreds of unaccompanied minors to the mainland. According to the local government, these unaccompanied minors who entered the enclave before or during the influx of 72,000 migrants in one week cannot be deported. This is Ana María Sánchez García, who works with the NGO Humanitarians Without Borders.

Ana María Sánchez García: “There’s pregnant women, underage girls alone in the streets. We are trying to provide care for them and listen to them and to try to see what solutions we may provide.”
