FBI Director Kash Patel Suggests He Might Send Federal Agents to Polling Places

HeadlineSep 16, 2026

In a Senate hearing Tuesday, FBI Director Kash Patel suggested he might be willing to send federal agents to polling places during the midterm elections. He made the admission during a contentious exchange with Vermont’s Democratic Senator Peter Welch.

Sen. Peter Welch: “I thought you weren’t going to be sending people to the polls.”

Kash Patel: “When did you hear that? It’s just another lie.”

Sen. Peter Welch: “When you answered Mr. Blumenthal.”

Kash Patel: “Nope.”

Sen. Peter Welch: “So you are sending — you are sending FBI agents to the polls.”

Kash Patel: “We have election crisis coordinators manned at all 56 field offices.”

Sen. Peter Welch: “All right.”

Kash Patel: “Election integrity is of paramount importance. This FBI is not going to shy away from that effort.”
