A federal judge denied the Trump administration’s attempt to block DACA recipient and Filipino activist Ya’akub Vijandre from seeking release from ICE custody. He’s been held at the Folkston ICE Processing Center in Georgia. Federal immigration agents arrested Vijandre last October at gunpoint at his home in Texas. His lawyers claim he was arrested because of his photojournalism and social media posts critical of the Israeli genocide in Palestine and the U.S. government’s treatment of prisoners of the so-called war on terror.
