In the occupied West Bank, the World Food Programme said Tuesday it will slash its food assistance by half this month, from 400,000 recipients to 200,000, due to serious funding shortages. This is Shaun Hughes, the director for Palestine at the World Food Programme.

Shaun Hughes: “In my recent visits to the West Bank, I have witnessed families, once thriving and earning a living off their land, now forced from their homes, their livelihoods destroyed. They now find themselves in a chokehold, unable to move freely to access land or jobs, and so unable to afford food for their families. They face incredible injustice and hardship.”

The WFP has also been forced to cut humanitarian aid to Gaza, where the agency supports 1.5 million people, including 1 million Palestinians who receive monthly food assistance.
