Dominican Elections

May 20, 1996

This past week, the Dominican Republican held elections to replace President Joaquin Balaguer who has governed for 22 years. A run-off between the Dominican Revolutionary Party and the Liberation Party is scheduled for June 30th. (10 people were killed in election related violence.)
