Social Media Platforms Remove Alex Jones, Citing Hate Speech

HeadlineAug 07, 2018

Apple, Google, Facebook, YouTube and Spotify have removed Alex Jones and his Infowars website from their platforms. Apple removed five of Jones’ six podcasts, saying, “Apple does not tolerate hate speech.” Facebook said it removed Jones’s pages because he was “glorifying violence” and “using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants.” Alex Jones regularly spreads far-right-wing conspiracy theories. He’s being sued by the parents of the elementary school children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting for claiming the massacre was a hoax staged by gun control advocates.
