Senate Adjourns Without Deal on New Coronavirus Aid as Millions Face Hunger and Eviction

Republican leaders have adjourned the Senate until after the Labor Day holiday, after failing to reach agreement with House Democrats on a new coronavirus stimulus bill. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders tweeted in response, “During the worst economic crisis since the 1930s, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans think they can take a long vacation while millions of Americans face hunger and eviction. That is morally obscene.”
