Dorothy Pitman Hughes, Black Feminist Who Co-Founded Ms. Magazine, Dies at 84

Pioneering Black feminist Dorothy Pitman Hughes has died at the age of 84. Hughes co-founded Ms. magazine with Gloria Steinem in the 1970s. The duo also toured the country to speak about the women’s movement. Hughes was a passionate advocate for racial justice, as well as for children and families, starting a cooperative daycare and co-founding the New York City Agency for Child Development.
