Isaacman is a close associate of Elon Musk who has twice flown aboard SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. He’s a strong advocate for nuclear power and propulsion in spaceflight. His confirmation comes as the Trump administration has proposed slashing NASA’s 2026 science budget nearly in half.
