Under Colombia’s new right-wing, Trump-supported President Abelardo de la Espriella, Colombia has recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over occupied Western Sahara. The first Trump administration recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara in 2020 as part of a larger effort to normalize relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
