  • British Court Releases Medical Report: Pinochet Unfit for Trial

    Britain’s High Court yesterday ordered the release of a medical report that found former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet unfit to stand trial, ruling that British Interior minister Jack Straw was wrong in blocking it. The former dictator has been under house arrest in London since October of 1998.

    Testifying in his own defense against murder charges, New York police officer Kenneth Boss testified yesterday that he thought Amadou Diallo was crouched in a "combat stance" before he and three fellow police officers fired 41 bullets at the Guinean immigrant.
