Sixth Year of World Social Forum Continues in Venezuela

HeadlineJan 25, 2006

In Venezuela, the second session of this year’s World Social Forum opened in Caracas Tuesday. The forum, now in its sixth year, wrapped up in Mali this week and will continue in Pakistan in March. Over 67,000 participants are in Venezuela for the six-day event.

  • Nora Cortiñas, a member of the Argentinean group Mothers of Plaza de Mayo : “We come to the World Social Forum to see if we can find that other America that is possible–without hunger, with jobs, with respect to human rights, and with out the terrorism of the United States and the wars and the invasions don’t do anything more but kill and kill innocents.”
