Israeli FM: Lebanese PM Should “Wipe His Tears And Begin Acting”

HeadlineAug 09, 2006

Meanwhile Israel’s Foreign Minister is coming under criticism for her comments on a speech given by Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora. Speaking before a gathering of Arab foreign ministers in Beirut Monday, Siniora broke down and wept as he described the war’s toll on Lebanese civilians. On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni had this to say.

  • Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni: “I also, Mrs. Chairman, saw yesterday Siniora’s crying and we all cry for our dead, either in public or not in public, but this is the place to tell him to wipe his tears and to begin acting in order to produce a better future, more of a normal future first of all for the civilians for which he cries.”
