Every year, Peace Action of New York State holds the William Sloane Coffin, Jr. Peacemaker Awards. This is an important event for our organization where we honor outstanding individuals whose lives are models for current and future changemakers. This year, we are pleased to honor Amy Goodman, Host and Executive Producer of Democracy Now! alongside grassroots advocacy group Afghans for a Better Tomorrow. We will also present the 2023 Don Shaffer Student Peacemaker Award to Peace Action Geneseo, a student peace group organizing on the campus of SUNY Geneseo.

The theme of this year’s event – Telling Our Story to Build Our Power! – will focus on the importance of centering the experiences of frontline communities in advocating for peace worldwide. We believe that now more than ever, it is important to honor the work of communities who are speaking truth to power while building an inclusive and powerful anti-war community.
