Hi there,

The job of a journalist is to go to where the silence is — especially when those in power seek to silence voices that question or challenge power. That is what we do at Democracy Now! day in and day out, and we're able to do it because of financial support from people like you — people who trust and depend on our independent reporting. If you believe that freedom of speech and freedom of the press are essential to the functioning of a democratic society, please donate today. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

British Government Approves Fighter Jet Sales to Saudi Arabia

HeadlineMar 12, 2018

The British government has approved the sale of 48 advanced fighter jets to Saudi Arabia—despite protests by human rights groups who say the warplanes will add to war crimes committed by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. The U.S.- and British-backed, Saudi-led airstrikes and naval blockade have devastated Yemen’s health, water and sanitation systems, sparking a massive cholera outbreak and pushing millions of Yemenis to the brink of starvation. Thousands of Yemenis have been killed.
