In Pennsylvania, two unvaccinated people have died from measles. They’re the first measles deaths in the U.S. this year. More measles cases have been reported in 2026 than in any year since the virus was declared eliminated in 2000. This is Pennsylvania’s Governor Josh Shapiro.
Gov. Josh Shapiro: “So far this year, there have been 393 confirmed cases of measles in Pennsylvania. That is the highest number of measles cases since 1992. Nearly 20% of those cases have resulted in someone being hospitalized.”
