Hi there,

It is the job of the press to cover power, not cover for power—to hold those in power accountable by documenting what's happening on the ground and amplifying voices at the grassroots. In this critical moment, as attacks on the media escalate, we must continue to cover crackdowns on dissent, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, public health and academic freedom. Thanks to a group of generous donors, all donations made today will be DOUBLED, which means your $15 gift is worth $30. If our journalism is important to you, please donate today. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

Media Options

Navy Seals training your local police officers, and cops using MP-5 automatic weapons, Ninja-style battle dress uniforms and armored personnel carriers? Is this just an extension of “black-helicopter” paranoia? Not according to a stunning new study which says that in police departments around the country these are real scenarios, with police being trained increasingly by US military special operations forces.

Joining us today to take a special, in-depth look at the growing
militarization of police forces around the country is the report’s author —
Peter Kraska. He is professor at the Department of Police Studies in the
College of Law Enforcement at Eastern Kentucky University based in
    Richmond, Kentucky.

GUEST: PROFESSOR PETER KRASKA, a professor at the Department of
