AARP Opposes Privatizing Social Security

In news on social security, the nation’s largest seniors’ lobby, AARP, announced Monday its outright opposition to President Bush’s plan to privatize part of Social Security. The head of AARP William Novelli said “We are dead set against carving private accounts out of Social Security taxes. We can fix Social Security without dismantling it, which is what private accounts carved out of Social Security do.”
