Hi there,

In this chaotic news cycle it may be tempting to tune out, but we hope you won’t—only an informed and engaged public can defend democracy. In these times of deep political polarization we need news that goes beyond play-by-play headlines, news that goes to the heart of each story by asking people to tell their own stories of abuses of power and injustice in their own words. If our journalism is important to you, please donate today. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

Students “Turned-On” by Current Events After Watching DN! in their Class

Teach Democracy Now!September 29, 2007

“I showed some of the Jena 6 coverage last week to the class, and the response was explosive, all over the political spectrum from some students aghast at this was happening now and some trying to defend David Duke. Some got up and walked out some asked for copies of the program.

The programs DN does are really making waves at my school when I show them. I get feedback later in the cafeteria and places that the students are appreciative of being shown a new way to thinking and analyzing current events. This area is not know for progressive values and instructors in school so DN is a big wave in this little pond.”
-Bob Anderson, Political Science Professor at Central New Mexico Community College
