In what has been described as Guatemala’s worst drug-related violence in modern times, 27 people were killed on remote jungle ranch over the weekend. Nearly all of the deceased were found decapitated. According to Guatemalan media outlets, the ranch belonged to a brother of one of the country’s most notorious drug lords. Authorities believe the killing may have been carried out by Los Zetas, a paramilitary Mexican drug gang that now operates in Central America as well.
