And a federal judge in Virginia has ruled in favor of transgender student Gavin Grimm, who sued his local Virginia school district for the right to use the bathroom that matches his gender identity. In Tuesday’s ruling, Judge Arenda Wright Allen said federal law protects transgender students like Grimm and that the school district had subjected him to illegal “sex stereotyping.” After the ruling, Grimm said, “I feel an incredible sense of relief.
