Colorado immigrant rights activist Jeanette Vizguerra has been denied an application for a visa in her latest attempt to stay in the United States, where she has lived for almost 25 years. Earlier this year, Vizguerra took sanctuary at the First Unitarian Society of Denver church after her stay of deportation expired. She also spent 86 days in sanctuary at the church in 2017 before receiving her stay of deportation. She is the mother of four children, three of whom were born in the U.S. as American citizens.
