Coronavirus-Stricken Cruise Ships Allowed to Dock in Florida After Weeks at Sea

HeadlineApr 03, 2020

Florida officials allowed a pair of coronavirus-stricken cruise ships to dock in Fort Lauderdale Thursday, with the sickest and most vulnerable passengers allowed to disembark. Governor DeSantis had ordered the ships to remain at sea, saying he opposed the “dumping” of hundreds of coronavirus patients in South Florida, but reversed course after a call from President Trump. Four people died of suspected COVID-19 aboard the ships, with hundreds falling ill.
