The 35-year-old Olympian accused former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of sexual assault in a social media post on November 2 and had not been seen since. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said he held a video call with Peng, while Chinese state media released a series of photos and videos showing the athlete in various settings, including a children’s tennis competition. In a statement, the head of the Women’s Tennis Association said, “While it is positive to see her, it remains unclear if she is free and able to make decisions and take actions on her own, without coercion or external interference.”
