Ex-Minneapolis Cop Thomas Lane Gets Three Years in Prison for Manslaughter of George Floyd

The former Minneapolis police officer who pinned George Floyd’s legs to the pavement while fellow officer Derek Chauvin choked him to death was sentenced to three years in prison by a Minnesota court on Wednesday. Thomas Lane had pleaded guilty in May to a second-degree manslaughter charge in connection with Floyd’s murder in May of 2020. Lane is already serving a 30-month federal prison term for violating Floyd’s civil rights.
