Hi there,

Today is your last chance to donate during Public Media Giving Days, a time to celebrate what public and independent media gives to you by giving back. If you think Democracy Now!’s reporting is a critical line of defense against war, climate catastrophe and authoritarianism, please make your donation of $10 or more right now. In honor of Public Media Giving Days, a generous donor will TRIPLE your donation, which means it’ll go 3x as far to support our independent journalism. Democracy Now! is funded by you, and that’s why we’re counting on your donation to keep us going strong. Please give today. Every dollar makes a difference—in fact, gets tripled! Thank you so much.

House Speaker Johnson Attaches TikTok Ban Bill to Ukraine, Israel Funding Package

HeadlineApr 19, 2024

Lawmakers could soon take a decisive step in forcing TikTok to either be sold from its Chinese owner ByteDance or be banned in the U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has attached the TikTok “divest-or-ban” measure to a series of military funding bills for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, adding up to $95 billion. House lawmakers are expected to vote on all four bills by Saturday, which would then be sent to the Senate as a single package. This comes as The Wall Street Journal reports the Biden administration is weighing sending another $1 billion in new weapons to Israel, including tank ammunition, military vehicles and mortar rounds.
