Hi there,

It is the job of the press to cover power, not cover for power—to hold those in power accountable by documenting what's happening on the ground and amplifying voices at the grassroots. In this critical moment, as attacks on the media escalate, we must continue to cover crackdowns on dissent, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, public health and academic freedom. If our journalism is important to you, please donate today. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

Far-Right Israeli Nationalists Attack Palestinian Journalists in East Jerusalem on Naksa Day

HeadlineJun 06, 2024

In occupied East Jerusalem, mobs of far-right Israelis attacked Palestinians and several journalists, including Saif Al-Qawasmi, on Wednesday during the Jerusalem Day Flag March to mark the anniversary of Israel’s seizing of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza in 1967. In Palestine, June 5 is known as the Naksa, meaning “setback.” During Wednesday’s march Israelis were heard chanting “Death to Arabs” and “May your village burn.” Police reported making 18 arrests.
