White House Won’t Punish Mike Waltz over Disclosure of Yemen War Plans

HeadlineApr 02, 2025

The White House says it is moving on from the scandal in which national security adviser Mike Waltz mistakenly shared plans to attack Yemen over the commercial messaging app Signal with Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of The Atlantic.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt: “As the president has made it very clear, Mike Waltz continues to be an important part of his national security team. And this case has been closed here at the White House, as far as we are concerned. There have been steps made to ensure that something like that can obviously never happen again, and we’re moving forward.”

Meanwhile, The Washington Post reports members of President Donald Trump’s National Security Council, including Mike Waltz, have conducted government business over personal Gmail accounts, in another apparent violation of security protocols and federal records laws.
