320,000 People Participate in France’s Third Weekend of Protests

HeadlineNov 02, 2026

In France, about 320,000 people took part in the third weekend of protests over the rising cost of living. The demonstrations drew a mix of high school students, trade unionists and yellow-vest activists. Authorities reported 565 arrests and five security officers injured in Paris. Students are planning more school blockades this week before a union-led strike day on Thursday, November 5. This is the mayor of Saint-Denis, Bally Bagayoko.

Mayor Bally Bagayoko: “High school and university students, especially those from working-class neighborhoods, have the right to demand true equality. I also wish to express my full support for all trade union organizations and for everyone who is mobilizing against the high cost of living. This is about political choices that have been made. These political choices must, of course, be challenged, first and foremost in the streets, and, I hope, at the ballot box, as well.”
