French Authorities Cancel U.N. Climate Summit Demonstrations

HeadlineNov 19, 2015

French authorities have also announced they have canceled the November 29 march the day before the opening of the U.N. climate summit due to “the heightened security situation.” As many as 200,000 people were expected to attend. In response, French campaigner Nicolas Haeringer of 350.org said, “The government can prohibit these demonstrations, but our voices will not be silenced. While this makes it difficult to go forward with our original plans, we will still find a way for people in Paris to make the call for climate justice heard.”
