Bronx Man Dies of COVID-19 One Hour After Release from Rikers Jail

A Bronx man who was imprisoned at the Rikers Island jail complex died on Friday from COVID-19, one hour after a judge granted him conditional release. Sixty-four-year-old Victor Mercado is the 13th person to die in a New York City jail this year.
