CDC Recommends Shorter Isolation for People with Asymptomatic Coronavirus Infections

HeadlineDec 28, 2021

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reduced the recommended isolation time for people with asymptomatic infections to five days — down from 10 days. The move comes as the Omicron variant has sickened hundreds of thousands of workers, creating labor shortages in some essential industries. Meanwhile, top White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci on Monday suggested U.S. airlines should consider a vaccine requirement for all passengers and crew aboard domestic flights.

Dr. Anthony Fauci: “When you make vaccination a requirement, that’s another incentive to get more people vaccinated. If you want to do that with domestic flights, I think that’s something that seriously should be considered.”

Dr. Fauci later walked back those remarks, telling CNN he doesn’t expect to see a vaccine mandate for air travel anytime soon.
