House Censures GOP Rep. Chuck Edwards over Sexual Harassment Claims

HeadlineSep 02, 2026

On Capitol Hill, the House censured Republican Congressmember Chuck Edwards after a bipartisan panel concluded there was substantial reason to believe he violated the chamber’s sexual harassment rules. Edwards announced that he would not seek reelection last month after a House report found that he should be penalized for “persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct toward two young female staffers.” According to the Ethics Committee’s report, Edwards had made repeated comments about the women’s appearance, invited them to intimate dinners and vacations, wrote them notes expressing his affections, and gave them gifts.
