In Maryland, a dozen empty luxury homes worth up to a half million dollars have been destroyed in a series of fires set by arsonists Another 30 empty homes were damaged. The homes were all part of a new subdivision still under construction. Environmentalists have criticized the placement of the homes next to an environmental preserve. There were no reports of injuries. Damage was estimated at $10 million. No group has taken responsibility for the arson.
